A Memory

Tonight I stare at God’s black canvas
Her hand in mine, small, cold, but soft to touch.

Each small light is a possible dream.
To wish on a wisp gives it direction.

“Tell me that you don’t see perfection.”
She smiles at the stars; I see her eyes

twinkling.
