A messy bouquet

How naïve of me, to doubt love
To think she has a last day
To think she is not eternal

For my darling, our love has no last day
Nor a first
For my darling, our love is a messy bouquet
Of half wilted sunflowers
Tragically beautiful

But when the last petal falls,
My hands will forever reach for yours
In my eyes, you will forever see a promise
A promise of a new messy bouquet
Somedays half wilted, half blooming
But alas, a bouquet it will be

Shall we part one day, if the moon so wishes
I will press you the last falling petal
And place it in the pocket just above your heart
A reminder it will be.
A reminder, that wherever we go
Sunflowers shall forever follow.
