A Midnight Remembrance

The midnight stars lit the sky, as I watch their glory shine,
But even though they're gleaming, at any moment they could die.
They remind me of us.
How we started out shining and slowly died out.
I peeked my head out the window,
Admiring their existence for just a moment,
Counting on them until I reached a number,
A number that symbolized our time we shared together on this planet,
But after a stars dies,
the pieces break off and move on.

I then closed my window, without a second glace.
