A Mother’s Love

Water rushing in,
swallowing our town,
sheer panic all around.

Where is my son,
looking all around,
I spot him in the waves,
about to drown.

I'm holding on,
I can make it.
As I watch him,
my hands let go.

Swim to my son,
holding each other,
we go together,
him and I.
