A Mother’s Love

“Mother’s love”
Your love is the sun shining on water
Without it I would be lost in this place
Your heart in my hands, love for your daughter
Such sweet renewal to look at you face

Your love a healing balm in my pain
Your arms held me during my toughest heartaches
Your words of wisdom helped break my chains
And with your guidance I endured childhood aches

But, before you were old, you knew me not
A terrible disease took your memories
My heart still cries, your life you have forgot
I miss your hugging arms and your stories

As I am standing before your headstone
Long to hear your heart beat--but I am alone.
