A Mother’s Promise

I walk down the hallway
Halls filled with painful stares
But it's all that I deserve
No sympathy, no one cares
The true pain that hurts me
Is the thought of you finally here
I have no plan for your existence
And your time is coming near
You won't have the nicest things
Or a father by your side
Just a mother's love
And whatever I can provide
You didn't ask for this life
And I know it isn't fair
That is what truly pains me
But I will always be there
I can promise you something
Some children never see
A mother's promise
Unconditional love for eternity
So I suffer in silence
For it's internal pain
The worry of your happiness
It's driving me insane
But I'll keep a mother's promise
