A Night with You

The slippery slope of the twilight
Is filled with fireflies and smoke,
Curling around me like a handshake.
I can smell the summer tonight.

Marshmallows crackle beneath my teeth,
Sinking into me. Warmth in this
Hazardous blizzard of my thoughts.
I never find my way out, except on nights like these.

Surrounded by the stars,
The trees dance for them.
Autumn leaves are a chorus of blues,
Clinging to my ears in eight beats.

Like the swaying of you and me,
Each star dances with a cloud,
Entangled and in love.

Among the comets,
The moon fades. Just like you.
I am abandoned again,
Melting into the green.
