A piece of my pie

A piece here, a piece there.
She always asks for a piece.
A piece of my food,
My clothes,
My money.
So I give her a piece,
And enough it never seems.
So another one comes,
And of course, she wants a piece.
A piece of my time,
A piece of my love,
A piece of my soul.
But most importantly… A piece of me.
So as time goes on… I run out of pieces.
And I hope I can give ‘the one’ a peace.
A peace of mind knowing she doesn't have all the pieces,
Just the piece she needs.
