A Piece

You don't know how hard it is for me
To not jump into your arms when I see you
Perhaps because I feel like I'd be dropped
I know the essence of me is heavier than the burden you're carrying
Are you aware of the similarities being shared?
Walking alone
No light being shone
On thoughts undisclosed
Thoughts only "she" knows
Apprehensive and generally reserved
Many soldiers have approached
But none who deserved
My time
My mind
I go undefined
I've been undermined
My flaws underlined
But no need to rewind
No regrets, only lessons
I have a consistent profession
Life
And it's teaching me at the same swift, steady, pace as you
