A Poem For Brian

I can't fix it
I went to a funeral the other day
and I spoke with my cousin to my dismay
I always thought of him as a ROCK
the strongest man, no matter what.
I learned about his childhood
the things that he had to endure
It broke my heart to hear his words
of constant beatings with a board.
The tears held back, as I tried to hear
about the childhood my cousin had.
He told his father that he could forgive
But, never forget his.. Childhood
No One should have to endure
the beatings, physical or mental abuse.
Why can't we protect the ones we love
to show them that's not, what lifes about.
I've tried my best not to judge,
but hearing this has crushed my heart
I JUST CAN'T FIX IT .
I know it's true
I CAN ONLY CRY for you.
