A Promised Treaty to Thee

Will I be a growing tree
if I marry thee.
Can I bend towards your breeze
if I marry thee.
Promise I will soon take root
if I marry thee.

Will I reach up for the sky
if I marry thee.
Can I be a thick'ning trunk
if I marry thee.
Promise to be firmly branched
if I marry thee.

Will I be a sapless tree
if I marry thee.
Can I tap your deep reserve
if I marry thee.
Promise not to leave you dry
if I marry thee.

Will I snap with snarling gales
if I marry thee.
Can I live beyond the pale
if I marry thee.
Promise that I will not fail
if I marry thee.
