A PSA for High School Crammers
After I shamble through the halls
Among my peers, the walking dead,
A night of cramming and planning
Makes the Spanish desk my bed.
The hunger for mounting AP credit
Is one that many cannot sate--
The ghoulish teens have ESP:
Eat, sleep, and procrastinate.
Studying and phone-lit surfing
Keep backs upright like the rising sun.
I watch my friends manage their stress
With Tumblr as their so-called "fun."
Our lives blow past us at blinding speeds
While we drown in college apps;
It's hard to justify long-term reward
When you spend eight years taking naps.
Sometimes I think we all forget
That our lives don't start at twenty-two.
School and life can work together
If you remember to take in the view.
