A Sea of Smoke ( World War I )

A Sea of Smoke ( World War I )
The sky is full of smoke
As the bombs fall on the field
To show cowardice during warfare is to
Let a comrade down who is counting on you
A soldier’s task amidst all the war for is to
Protect the country from the enemy
As the smoke falls I know many have fallen.
March, stand your ground, don’t shoot
Till you see the whites of their eyes. Orders.
To see my own hand amidst the sea of smoke
Spotted with the blood of young men, brave, men.
I, too, will die here amidst the sea of smoke.
