A sense

Has no one lived
where the world grieves?
Have we forgotten our touch
to reality?
Have our fingers gone calloused to
the sweet sensation of being?
As I close my eyes I see lightning strike
the distance between us
Have we gone quiet?
Can we no longer whisper
our secrets to our loves?
As I open my mouth no song can be heard,
just a broken gasp
as my tongue searches for my soul.
