A Shield of Fabric
my hijab cannot shield the charging snide
I see their gaze dig into me
is it because it's this clothe they see?
I see the demise swimming inside
is it because I walk with pride?
I see the hate boil in their eyes
is it because they are blinded by lies?
I am covered but I have nothing to hide
should I curl back in fear?
I will not cower in despair
should I shed a single tear?
I will not glower to their glare
should I let ignorance dig into me like a spear?
I will not be caught in their ensnare
