A silent goodbye

Finally reaching out
Trying to figure what this is about
Why do you take me for granted?
When looking in your eyes I felt enchanted.
I guess you can say that that’s in the past
A quick fleeting romance that wasn’t meant to last.
The rain falling from the sky
Piercing my skin since it fell from so high.
Sitting there shivering and cold
I finally broke away from your hold.
A sign or allegory some would say
It hit me hard upon that day
A sign to leave and never look back
From the affection that you did lack.
And so my life I give to you
And everything that I’ve been through
A sign from above, I’m thankful for this
And this unsatisfactory romance, I won’t miss.
God take my life and guide me to better
So I can escape my ankle fetter.
