A Single Plank

A single plank keeps me afloat
Until the day that it doesn’t anymore
Little by little it gives away
Slowly sinking from the weight
The pounds of tears I have shed
The thoughts in my head
All becoming a ball of lead

A single plank keeps me afloat
Until the day that it doesn’t anymore
Until the day that it snaps in half
And I no longer have a raft
I can only wait for the storm
The waves to crash
Forcing me to conform

A single plank keeps me afloat
And I can only pray
One day it will become a boat
