A Sliver of Green Defies


I see trees of brown, black roses, too
They bloom for neither you nor me
Sand devours the land
Heartless wind cuts my face
I am so cold, you cannot imagine
Frost and ice violate me
Groping my arms and legs
Restraining me
My brain crystallizing, my eyes becoming marbles
Yet, I shift my eyes and forward I glance
To witness
A frail sliver of green defying the impregnable, cruel wind
The sight calms a storm of despair that has ravaged my heart
Infectious frost slowly melts, a smile cracks the engulfing ice
Knowing in the land of nothing, there is
