A Solider's Inspiration

One day soon, things will turn around,
And shortly after, we'll all be homeward bound.
No more fighting; no more tears-
For we have faced our greatest fears.
We'll march home with our heads held high,
in honor of those who didn't have to die.
They gave us courage, they gave us reason;
They fought for us against the treason.
In their names, we continue the fight-
only to up hold what we know is right.

This Poems Story

This is dedicated to my family and fellow service members and inspired by my grandmother, who wrote a similar poem when my dad left for boot camp. Raised in the military and then serving as a marine myself, I see all the things most don't seem to understand, yet take it for granted. This is to remind us all that those in the military feel like many of us and give their all-by choice, to protect us and what we have. Thank the Lord for the freedoms we have and the gift of choice and sacrifice. Semper Fi Always Faithful)!
