A Tie To The Past

A photo in a frame
A piece of music in my head
A term I use in jest
Or maybe just instead
A passage in a book
A sense of better days
A longing for the good
And need for better ways
A likeness in a crowd
An image in the sand
A place we used to go
To be on our own land
A glass to raise to you
A picture in my mind
An urge to meet again
Old memories defined
A sigh or parting shot
A regret I hold within
A year now lost in time
What will the winter bring
A future yet to paint
A cloud in heavy rain
A thought that lingers on
That some day we’ll meet again
