A Treatise on our Blemished Humanity

So sparingly tuned
Are the tainted ballads of ruin
Recited generously with conviction
Harmonized by the perils of ignorance

So often was it sung by the birds of the air
Preaching of the violence ensuing
Where families wavered, distraught
Where brothers fragment like a weak clashing blade

In the God-laid fields their tune hummed throughout
Where bullets came to rest
And spells of charred earth tormented the land
Through these volleys of thunder, like a hardening storm -
Transactions of burden, like in the bright summer markets of times foregone
Through these volleys -
Only regret arose
