A trek to the hills

With miles to cover in a thousand measured paces
The firmament left to be seen in a thousand faces
I trek along with the ever-widening river's flow
Leaving behind the comfort of plains to hills I go

The path has been consumed by the river’s surge
Through shattered rocks, I pander to the explorer’s urge
Cliffs impale the façade of the brilliant blue sky
Sky showers severe sunlight stripping the cliffs dry

Amongst the multitude of peaks the summit gleams
Though in sight endless the vision seems
I waddle towards it in a tiresome tread
Perseverance fights every teardrop shed

By much effort, success is eventually found
Exhausted, my being collapses on the ground
Something inside feels the organic link with the soil.
I am bound with nature with the sweat of my toil.
