A Tribute to Buttons

By

Buttons was our devoted tuxedo cat,
We had her for fifteen years, can you imagine that?
The last three years of her life was not an easy road,
She had a kidney disease, what a heavy load!
Three times a week we gave her fluids in a hose,
To help stop the disease we did all of those.
She sat like a trooper as she took her meds.,
Looking us in the eyes as she moved her head.
She trusted us to take care of her all day long,
That was our goal too, so she wasn't wrong.
She welcomed everyone who came into our home,
She always sat on my lap when I felt alone.
She slept on my pillow at night,
Till it was time to be fed by the early light.
But one day the pain was too much for you,
And you left our world without a "Mew".
You have left a hole in my heart,
Because of all the love you had to impart.
I'm glad you are not in pain anymore,
Just wish you were here to adore!
You will always be remembered as a loving cat,
And it couldn't get better than that!
