A Trio of Triolets: of My Author

I may not be perfect but hey
I don't need to focus on the old stains
For me little matters of what others may say
I may not be perfect but hey
The past is the past and such it shall stay
For my future's a chariot and I hold the reigns
I may not be perfect but hey
I don't need to focus on the old stains

I don't need to focus on the old stains
If my trial is as flame
It has melted through the chains
I don't need to focus on the old stains
For I was freed of such pains
When ashes memorialized my shame
I don't need to focus on the old stains
If my trial is as flame

If my trial is as flame
Then my resolve is as clay
For the more that it should maim
The more strength that I will claim
What is a trial but a fancy name
For an opportunity to kneel and pray
If my trial is as flame
Then my resolve is as clay
