A Visit to the Sea Coast Where My Beloved Left Me

You thrive in the movements
Of the water in which I’m scared to dive.
The contrast buried in each molten oscillation-
White and blue, then and now.

Despising the harmony of each ripple I cry
How life’s so splendid yet so dry…
But how can I forgive
That moment surreal
Turned to the very agony I now live!

I am now far from the vicious grasps of affection,
Safe in the coast’s warm protection.
Oh! But the sea is the vaster,
The coast shallow,
The longings once narrow
Become cruel in wait for tomorrow
When love’s fuel expires,
When I shall finally crave another
And escape your arresting desires.
Can I…Will I?
