A Walk in the Woods

Like a Cheshire smile shines upon me
Alone I stand, bathed by the light
This light is seductive
Coaxing me into darkness
The stars shine amongst it, drawing me in like bedroom eyes
My body is surrounded by its warmth
Encasing my body in its being
"Oh, Crescent Moon, how I envy thy light
Shall I never shine like you?
I long to reach you, Crescent Moon
My lover, my savior, my friend"
And I stare into the eyes of the glowing crescent moon
As it holds my heart close to it
And flies amongst the stars
Every night, tears are shed in mourning
As the crescent moon's beauty is plagued by morning
