A War Zone

The sound of your voice,
it still echoes throughout
the four walls of this heart of mine.
And with its every bounce,
it shatters my already broken heart.
Every move you've made,
every word you've said,
they're still etched
into my mind-my heart.
And with every memory that flashes back,
it explodes in a mind
already cluttered with dead dreams,
and in a heart
already deserted in No Man's Land.

The sound of my voice,
I'm sure has already faded;
the words I've said,
I'm sure you won't remember;
the memories you have of me,
I'm sure it's just a blur.
And everything we were,
you'll be quick to forget.

Because if our love was a war,
then why was I the only casualty?
