A Wife Departed
My abandoned lips wait for only yours,
My tormented eye looks for only yours,
My forsaken hands clasp with only yours,
And my shattered heart throbs with only yours.
I have rested my nights with only you,
And fresh daylight began with only you,
And my devotion breathes for only you
As my life was conceived for only you.
My mind's sole delight; my dream of all dreams
In our embrace as our tender might grew
With power yet grace, with yearning that gleams
Of untamed passion for all that is you.
And with such love those thoughts do rejoice me
Of you and to you, my dear sweet Julie.
