A Winter’s Wait

The dog sits outside
waiting, listening, content,
watching the snowflakes
as they make their descent.

He waits with eagerness
for spring to arrive
so the solemn, staid landscape
will once again come alive.

He is happy, appeased,
and filled with hope,
for by his visions of spring,
with winter he can cope.
