A Wish for a Day

I throw a coin in a wishing well
In hopes of gaining a sense of smell
For I have never smelled a thing
Like the roses or trees in the season of spring
Often I wonder if it's a curse or a blessing
For I wish I could smell the delicious salad dressing
Oh if I could just smell, Even just for a day
I would go to the store and buy a flower bouquet
I'd smell good things, bad things, and rare objects too
Like a penny, an acorn, or a warm chicken stew
Those are the things I would do for the day
I would smell and smell 'till the magic faded away
