A Wondering Soul

My heart hungers,
a desire burns like fire.
I run blindly.
With fear inside,
I face the new day.
And I await,
for an answer that won't decay.

Like a speeding arrow,
I go through life.
Forgetting all the important things,
but remembering all the strife.
Like the sinking sun,
I fall back unaware,
of the heavenly blessings
that lay out like stepping stairs.

We forget all joy,
as if the light will never rise.
The things we long for
that hinder our lives,
are hopelessly forgotten
as the tales of old wives.

Can we ever just leave,
life behind?
All earth's worries and cares.
Forgotten,
as if we needn't care.
