Everything pauses
Our senses, our minds, our tasks
Hands slightly shaking
Just barely breathing, Just idle
For a split second
In disbelief, that this could happen
Forgetting that sometimes
Humans leave their body’s abandoned
Like the tips of our tingling fingers
Their slight vibration
Causing a fight for
We stare ahead for what feels like an eternity
Flabbergasted at the audacity
We mourn the best we can
While our minds wrap around
How fragile the flesh is on a man
And that is the sum of our being
The souls farewell out of this world
Just the slight pause from the acquaintances
That we have had the pleasure
To meet along the way
The ones we thought
We’d get to see again someday.
