About This Morning

As I walked away from you
this morning "to work all day,
hard on my feet, Saturday"
I felt a heavy weight on my back,
heavy like a pack of rocks,
like I was the foot of a giant.
That's why I stopped
at the bottom of the steps
and turned up to you.
That's what I was feeling then.
You looked down at me and
smiled and I felt the weight
open up, rustle and reveal
enormous wings.
That's why I leapt into the sky.
That's what I was feeling then.
