Across the Water I Glide

Across the water my canoe now glides
As the last vestiges of summer hides
Behind the blue gray clouds the sun
Takes summer's warmth as it runs

the trees they sway with every breath
Driven by a gathering breeze
and paint a brilliant masterpiece
in the colors of their leaves

Leaves their gentle spiral down
from lofty boughs above
Renew my faith in these deep woods
And this river that I love
