Actions Are the Truth

'Tis so easy to listen to a lie
when you don't want to hear the truth.
Locked in this cage I call my mind.
As I lay alone,
the darkness fades in.
The ghosts of my past have found their way in.
They hide in the shadows of others-
waiting, longing for the moment I'm alone.
No matter how hard I try,
alone is where I always end up.
Even with a crowd of people,
I get the feeling I've always known.
"I love you"are simply words;
actions are the truth.
All the ones who say those words
do not follow through with the truth.
Words said a thousand times
sadly are not truth.
The words cannot keep the feelings of my past
from wanting to dance across my skin,
for no one is to see this pool I'm drowning in.
