Addict’s Last Goodbye

I apportion no blame for the state I'm in
This deadly battle I believed I could win
All the blame is mine alone
I listened not to the warning tone

Goodbye to all my very loyal friends
Hope life to you some extra time sends
The gift of strength that help to seek
Your wounds to heal, so very weak!

Please think kindly of those who are crying
And have to resort to a life of lying
Their deadly habit daily to feed
That ever constant, nagging need

Waiting for a drink or another jab
Some kindred spirit hoping to nab
Who's had a lucky day out there
And willing with them their spoils to share

Thank you for always just being there
Our highs and lows to jointly share
No worldly chattels from me you will find
But my love in abundance I leave behind!
