Adolescence

Kids look at adults and wish they could grow up
Adults look at kids with wishes to turn back time
A time when we didn't fear logging onto the internet
Or fear walking into school
Or fear of not being loved because of sexuality
Children see what we want them to

I was one of those kids wishing life away

I wanted a lot of money
I got two part time jobs
I wanted happiness
I got it but from a pill bottle

But we can't tell children this
Because then we'll be the monsters
Ruining their innocent adolescent minds

So for now let them continue dreaming
Let them wish for the side we show them
Because before we know it

Life will strip away the innocence.
