Afraid to Love

Lonely at heart she never admits
Surrounded by hurt that will not quit
She sits around dissecting flaws
Realistic and cynical she makes her call
She won't let herself fall
Guarded and quick she puts up her wall
No trespassers dare to cross
In command, she is boss
She mends her heart that knows much pain
It is hard to deal without Novocain
Tears of others come pouring down
Like a thunderstorm, begin to pound
Closer and closer to the sound
Cries from a girl that is lost, but never found
She has never uttered or heard
Those three sacred words
