AFRICAN BOY

Awake, his reddened eyes does not close
Fearful burdens, are all he can see
Ringing always, are duties imposed
In gold or mud, success he must seize
Culture and value, he must uphold
Although he's down, still dares to succeed
Not seen as much, a beast to control
Born as human, but called a monkey
Oppressed and defiled, still he has hopes
Yesterday's pains wont stop this boy's dream
