After a While

After a while you learn the subtle difference
Between holding a hand and chaining a soul
And you learn that love does not leaning
And kisses are not contracts
And presents are not promises
And you learn to accept your defeats
With your head up high
With the grace of an adult not the grief of a child
And you build all your roads on todays grounds
Because tomorrows grounds are too uncertian for plans
And you realize even sunsine burns if you get too much of it
So plant your own garden
And decorate your own soul
instead of waiting on someone to bring you flowers
After a while you realize you really are strong
You really can endure
And you do have worth after a while
