After Tsunami and Katrina

Somewhere in the skies
Soul of my beloved lies
I live, but my heart cries
Rooted deep are tears in my eyes
My skin bears the winter winds
Under the bare skin, I fight
For life, against the will of skies
Savour water, causes deaths
All I hear is mournings and sighs
I stand here on the shore of the mother sea
Watching the waves and their rise.
The waves...that swayed away with them
My home, my shelter and my toys
My parents departed, siblings dead
Buried under sea are million lives
Life continues despited deaths
To live, I paid the maximum price;
The warmth of home and mother's lap
To live, I paid the maximum price
I live, but my heart cries
