Afterwards

In the passing of the seconds
In the gleaming of the lights
In the sunset of our laughter
All the memories tonight
Glow like drunken fireflies
Who weave their wings into ballet
And spin as if to celebrate
The gleaming moments of the day;
We drift in circles, blue and sloping
Tangled lives and loving, hoping
For a glimpse into the heart
Of yet another, and the part
Of me that wants to touch it all
Is pushed above the curtain's call
To take a breath and gasping see
A moment of eternity.
