Against the Gale

In all my years I never thought
To find the one
Who will wipe the tears
And fight the fears
That the storms of life have brought

But here she stands
A beam of light in a hurricane.
Feet burrowed in the sand
Willing to take a final stand
And cast aside the pain.

Then over the unrelenting gale
Appeared a voice with a force
As if to challenge hell.
"Blast me with wind and rain
Do your worst, hurricane.
For I would rather have a taste of fire
Than to never have known desire.
To be alive is more than worth the pain"
