Alameda Blvd

They line the boulevard,
ragged possessions
jammed
haphazardly
into shopping carts.
The rank smell of piss
and stale beer.

This world refuses
fixing.

Broken spirits.
Holey soles.
Shards of glass,
crumpled lives

claiming their own piece
of real

estate

somewhere between
birth and death.
