Alcohol’s Chain of Heartache

The same old story plays day after day
Drinking to ease life's hurt away

You're trapped in a bottle with no way out
Believing this is what life's all about

The chains of alcohol hold on tight
Squeezing out every ounce of light

Your children deeply ache to feel your love
But you're numbed by alcohol's smothering glove

They sit helplessly by and pray for a break
Hoping to crumble the chain of heartache

But slowly they realize with despair in their heart
That love isn't enough to bring on a new start
