Alone

By Maria44

The sound of emptiness
Consumes
As the day grows older
The feeling of doom
Is more evident
Alone I ponder
Alone as my mind wonders
Where did it all cease

Isolation befriends me
Degradation bestows me
Addiction has unraveled me
In my own prison I sit
Alone, without a single soul
Alone without no one to hold
Alone, engaged in my own disparity
Seeking joy and comfort
No peace, rest aside me

For as long as I sit alone
Not a single soul can hurt me
Then again my own soul has turned against me
Creating a silent madness within me

Again as a new day ends

Alone
