Alone in Despair

My chest feels so heavy
I don't know why.
My tears want to fall
But it hurts when I cry.

It comes out of nowhere
That big daunting shock.
One minute I'm fine
The next? I'm not.

I feel all kinds of empty
What will even come next?
In a world full of meaning
I don't have much to flex.

But I can't burden others
They'll just pretend to care.
So I'll sit here alone
Alone in despair.
