Alone with the stars

you’re sitting on the moon and

all of the stars are so jealous of how brightly you shined,

but little did they know,
you were growing dim each passing night

you lick your lips,
and you taste like years of being alone,

your eyes filled with stardust and loneliness,
your hands pale and fingernails rimmed with silver,

you have always wondered,
when will you get to meet someone or something
that’ll make the aching pain in your chest fade away,

you’re haunted with unexpressed feelings and tears that you weren’t aware of,
frighten, you were.

you’ll play pretend and intertwine,
your hand with the other to make sure you weren't in complete solitary,

you’ll kiss the nearby stars and wave at the galaxies to say hello.
