Amusement Park Of Life

As I naively pass through the gates of the amusement park of life
I am ambushed by worry as I watch my child wind his way
through the house of horrors known as higher education
only to fall through a trap door bearing a sign
"no job opportunities here"

Next I am showered with anxiety as I see my husband
on the roller coaster named Heinz moving slowly
along the plateau of rumours then being pulled up the mountain
of hope and quickly dropping into the valley of betrayal and fear
on the other side.

Walking along the midway of depression, elderly parents,
sleepless nights and physical pain I can see the magic kingdom
named Happily Ever After in the distance.
Its' path is long and with each step it seems to get longer
instead of shorter and I feel I may never
reach its drawbridge
