An Exercise In Being Random

In Indiana
kids in purple clothing play
hopscotch in the heat

while spiders weave webs
in cool, shaded green places
and vegans eat lunch

inside great buildings
with rooms of precious cold air-
those lucky people

stare out windows at
stray dogs playing in green grass,
a not-for-sale sign

on a sun-baked car,
and a dog lapping water
from a spilled bottle.
